I'll usually use SkyBoxVR as my Virtual Cinema on the Quest 2 for movies and TV Shows when I am happy to use Headphone audio, but for big blockbusters where I want to view on the biggest virtual Cinema Screen possible and where I want real 5.1 audio, I'll use Steam Virtual Desktop with HighMax, my Reverb G1, KODI as my media player and UI and will use KODI to route the real 5.1 audio to my real 5.1 Home Theater Speaker setup.ģD Movies and iMAX documentaries in HighMax with real 5.1 audio is nothing short of EPIC IMHO. I am sure there is some image compromise using this work around but the image quality still looks pretty great to my eyes. However, if one has the SteamVR version of Virtual Desktop then one can actually use Virtual Desktop on Quest to stream the desktop version of VD to the Headset like you would stream a PCVR game. The resolution of the Quest 2 does do it justice but It can't run natively on the XR2 SOC of the Quest 2. I mainly use it with my Reverb G1 as the resolution of the Rift CV1 or Rift S don't so it justice. It has about 500 seats and a 100ft圆0ft screen. It is an accurate recreation of what used to be the largest iMAX in the world at Darling Harbour in Sydney Australia until it was demolished in 2016 to make way for several smaller iMAX screens. HighMax is a free Virtual Cinema environment available from the Steam Workshop for Virtual Desktop. Heres a link to it on the Steam Workshop.Ĭreated a video with OBS of the HighMax DLC Virtual Cinema for Virtual Desktop for some other Justice League 4:3 related threads but thought I would post it in its own thread here for more visibility to those who might not know about it.
